My Natural Skincare Routine

For a long time I struggled with acne and ultimately dark spots so I decided to focus more on my skin care routine and during my research I found that a lot of natural products that you have in your home could work wonders for your skin!  Although I recommend going to a health food store and purchasing the raw/organic options for everything I’m about to recommend.

After using some of these products for the past couple of months I realized that natural remedies reacted better to my skin than the ones I was buying in the drug store or even some of the more expensive ones I’ve tried from Sephora.

Granted everyone’s skin is different and reacts differently so this is not a suggestion that everyone should switch to natural products but hey take from it what you will.  These things have been working for me and saving me money! lol

Black Soap is where it’s at! And my favourite is DuDu Osun.  The ingredients are what got me to try it! It has Pure honey, Shea butter, Osun (Camwood), Palm kernel Oil, Cocoa pod ash, palm bunch ash, Aloe Vera, Lime Juice, Lemon Juice, Water and Fragrance.

(Can be found at any beauty supply store and they just increased the price to $5.99)

My second fave is Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap with Tea Tree. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic that helps heal cuts and bruises as well as skin conditions like acne dermatitis and psoriasis. The Ingredients include;  Water, Organic Coconut Oil*, Potassium Hydroxide**, Organic Olive Oil*, Tea Tree Extract, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol.

(Can be found at any health food store for under $5 for the smaller sizes – also comes in a bar)

Thayer Lemon Witch Hazel w/ Aloe Vera its everything! I use as a toner. I know it says astringent but remember its all natural so it’s not harsh at all!

Lemons are known for their brightening components. Being rich in vitamin C and citric acid, lemons are able to lighten age spots, freckles, and acne scars by boosting collagen production. They are acidic and contain high amounts of anti bacterial anti fungal properties, reducing bacteria, and excessive natural oils on the skin. Lemon is great for oily or acne prone skin that needs a little extra attention.

(It’s under $15 and can be found at any natural health food store)

Coconut Oil! I usually put it on over night. It even helps your lashes and eyebrows grow.  You can also use it in different face masks; one of my faves is with baking soda as a scrub!

(Yea I know it says for cooking but it can be used on your body as well! and it under $10)

**** My Favourite mask right now is a mixture of Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Lemon Juice and Honey. Please make sure you get the raw/organic form for all of these ingredients. Leaves your skin feeling fresh and smooth!****

These are just a few things I’ve been using in the past couple of months, I would love to hear what works for you guys! Drop a comment below and let me know!
